From Studio to Street: How to Build a Sustainable Capsule Wardrobe for Yoga and Everyday Life

Spoiler: I wear the same trousers three times a week and I’ve never felt freer.

A few years ago, I had one of those very un-spiritual moments standing in front of my closet:

A mountain of clothes. Nothing to wear.

Tops that didn’t go with bottoms. Impulse-buy regrets still with the tags on. A drawer full of trousers - but none I actually liked doing yoga in.

Sound familiar?

I wanted simplicity.
Comfort.
Clothes that felt good on my body and my conscience.

That was the moment I decided to build my own sustainable capsule wardrobe. Something that worked from yoga mat to morning meetings, without requiring a complete lifestyle overhaul or a spreadsheet to plan outfits.

Unfortunately, back then Studio Nidra wasn’t around – so I started it.
And every piece is made with the capsule concept in mind.

What Even Is a Capsule Wardrobe?

It’s a small, intentional collection of clothes that mix, match, and layer effortlessly.

This could be:

🧘 A pair of leggings/trousers that you love to move in
🌿 A cute top that that can handle a vinyasa flow and a quick coffee run
🐻 A cozy sweater that works for savasana and Sunday brunch

The magic isn’t just in owning fewer things (although that can be liberating).
It’s in owning the right things.

Yoga Taught Me Minimalism (Before I Even Knew It Did)

What’s funny is that the capsule wardrobe mindset is basically yogic.
We practice aparigraha, non-attachment.
We value presence over possession.

We learn that less truly is more, especially when what you have is deeply aligned with who you are.

Most importantly, it’s not so much about rules or rigid color palettes.
It’s about alignment. With my values, my lifestyle, and yes, my actual hips.

From Chaos to Capsule: What I Changed

Instead of chasing trends or impulse buys, I started asking better questions:

  • Do I feel at ease and strong in this?
  • Can I wear this to yoga and to life?
  • Was this made ethically, with vegan materials?
  • Will I still want this in a year… or three?
  • Does it pair well with things I already own?

And slowly, piece by piece, I curated a wardrobe that actually worked.
One where every top had a purpose. Every pant pulled its weight.
And nothing sat in the back of the drawer whispering guilt.

What’s in My Capsule Now?

Okay, so here’s what I work with these days:

  • 2–3 high-quality trousers - two black, one cream
  • A couple of layering tops (tees and shirts) that can dress up or down
  • One sweatshirt I basically live in (we’re launching this one soon)
  • A lightweight jacket that goes with everything
  • The softest cape ever that doubles as post-yoga warmth or WFH chic
  • 1 Ainé set for surprise photo shoots with friends

Bonus: my capsule isn’t just for the mat.
I wear it on walks, to work meetings, even on weekend trips.
It travels light and works hard.

Side Effects: Unexpected and Wonderful.

Since I built my capsule:

👉 I spend way less time deciding what to wear

👉 My laundry pile is smaller (and less synthetic-smelling)

👉 I feel clearer, more grounded, like my outside actually matches my inside

In short: I wouldn’t want to go back.

If you’re looking to build your own sustainable capsule, whether you’re starting from scratch or just refining: Studio Nidra was literally born for this.

We create elevated essentials that feel good, last long, and move with you - on and off the mat.

Nothing you don’t need.
Everything you actually wear.

Think of it as yoga-wear that respects your values and your schedule.

A sustainable capsule wardrobe is like a deep breath for your closet.
Fewer pieces. Better choices. More freedom.
And leggings you actually want to wear all day long.
